How does BOTOX® work?
BOTOX® is an agent that deactivates the connection between the nerves and muscles and, when used correctly, can soften facial wrinkles and reduce overactive muscle activity. The onset of BOTOX® usually takes about 6-7 days and lasts anywhere from 3-6 months, after which maintenance injections can be performed.
Are there any side-effects with BOTOX®?
Botox® is a safe and thoroughly tested product. Patients with allergies to BOTOX® or Human albumin, neuromuscular conditions, or women who are pregnant or breast feeding should not have BOTOX®. BOTOX® can cause bruising, swelling, headaches or drooping of the upper eyelids. The converse is that some patients report improvement or resolution of tension headaches and migraines!
